Butterfly koi 4/9/2018
Last year, when I was in ceramics 1, I created a similar project to this one. I took a koi fish and a butterfly and put them together. The body resembles the fish and the "fins" are the butterflies wings. I added a stand so it would sit properly. I remade the project this year in ceramics 2 (pictured below) because someone broke my other piece. I'm not more nor less satisfied with this piece. I do like that the color turned out better then the last, however it is smaller than the first piece I made and liked the larger size. I started out this piece with a giant, thick coil. I cut the coil in half, hollowed it out and then put the pieces back together. Then, I took the hollowed coil and attached it to the stand. Once it was sturdy enough (almost leather hard, but not quite), I cut out the wings and scored and slipped them on as well. I had to prop the wings up until the dried so they wouldn't fall off. This piece is glazed with high fire glaze and it didn't turn out like the example, which upsets me. Overall, I am neither happy or sad about how this piece turned out, it's average.
Flowered Dragons 4/2/2018
This project is my favorite by far. It was inspired by valentines day, however I did not actually start the project until a month later because I was caught up with other projects and didn't have my full idea planned out yet. I started out by creating a coil and shaping the dragon's bodies. Then I sculpted each individual flower, leaf and vine and scored and slipped them on. Creating the flowers was a bit difficult because they're so small and thin but it was a lot of fun. Finally, I painted it. I used colors like, mint green, robin blue, rose, pig pink, and poppy field crystaltex for the white dragon. I and very happy with the symmetry and detail I put into this piece. I plan to hang it on my wall at home.
Large rat 3/19/2018
Compared to my small rat sculpture, this one is twice the size. The colors are generally close, the big rat is a darker grey. This rat has is symmetrical, from the ears, to the feet. It has a 3D form as well. It is not very proportionate, I have enlarged the paws , eyes, and ears to give it a sense of 'cuteness'. I do like how this guy turned out, however, just like the small rat his tail also broke because they're fragile.
Random pots 3/2018
I decided to try making since decorative little pots. Although they can asks be used to hold miscellaneous things for they would make cute pots for plants. I made two animal themed and the third was a fun test glaze one. One is a giraffe and the other is a rabbit. I personally love the way the spots turned out on the giraffe the most. I used gloss glaze for both animals and crystaltex on the last one.
Small rat 2/2018
This rat is something I did for fun. I breed rats at home and thought it'd be fun to have a few sculptures to put around the cages. I am still I the progress of making more. I attempted to make it as close to the color of a rat as possible...just the simple grey and pink. This rat has nice symmetrical properties although the ears were hard to get to look the same. It has a 3D form as well.
Semester project 2017
My semester project was to take a matter artists painting and turn it into a 3D model. I took Van Goghs mastery piece, Starry Night, and turned it into the hat of the Mad Hatter, from Alice in Wonderland. This project was very complicated and unfortunately I did not finish it in time
It is still in need of glazing but has been fired once. It's got a great form and value.
Slab project
My slab project is of a crescent moon with a sleeping bunny. I started out with a thick slab, carved a circle, and then sgrafitoed the piece in layers. The sky is painted in a matte iris blue, the moon is glossy lemon yellow and the bunny is a glossy snow white. I do like the outcome of this piece, all except that it did not turn out flat. I tried my best to keep this piece on a flat surface but it still turned out wobbly.
Pinch pots put together
This project was created with the idea of scoring and slipping pinch pots together. I decided to put three of them together. My original idea was to make all 3 of them owls but instead made one an owl and the other two are trees. So the owl is leaning against two trees. I had fun carving the tree markings and making the owl.
The owl is a grey gloss glaze, and the tree is a mix of glossy browns.
Stamp
I made my stamp in the shape of a butterfly. The body has three indentations in it to make an immage on my piece. I use the stamp to show that I am the creator of these clay projects. This piece will not be glazed.
Flat piece
This is my flat piece of art the i painted it. I carved into it also. It is pond with a single fish and a few Lily pads in it. I used 'orange' to paint the fish and the Lily pads are painted with 'blue green'. I painted the edge with 'jet black' to give it depth

Bear Face
My bear's face is hand sculpted. I started with a ball and scored and slipped on clay to form the muzzle. The eyes have the iris carved out and the pupils are still there. I decided not to glaze this piece since it was just a practice piece. And i think I could've done better so I will not be keeping it.
