Distorted Giraffe

     This giraffe is from a project base on distortion. I wanted to draw a distorted animal but also keep the image and beauty of the animal noticeable. I did not draw the body of the giraffe because the canvas was only 4x4 and I can't draw that small. I drew her with a big anime eye and curly hair. I kept all the normal characteristics of a giraffe as well; such as the horns, two ears, and a long muzzle and neck.
     I added in both elements and principles. I shaded, adding value and contrast. I also made defined lines to keep the shape of the animal more noticeable. Balance is kept as well. No color though, only value with a grayscale.
     This piece doesn't have a background story to it. She is just a distorted giraffe.
     I think this piece is okay. It's not my favorite but I think the giraffe is cute. It took me many trials and errors to get the right distorted shape and that turned out nice.

Ice Dragoness

    

     This dragoness is something I came up with on my own. She has two wings and a set of horns on her head. She's a four legged dragon. I drew her with her eyes closed, a long tail, and a long neck. She is not colored in either.
     My main element used is line. There is no color or value. I did use a couple principles. I created an pattern with her spikes running down her back and tail. Since there is an equal amount of objects/art on each side of my paper, balance is used. Proportion, my dragons body parts are dilated to compliment each other
     My Ice Dragoness has a small story. I love dragons and the first thing that came to my mind was that I wanted to draw one with a graceful look. So I drew her standing tall like she's a queen. I didn't add color because I wanted others who saw her to picture whatever color they saw fit.
     I absolutely love this piece. If there was one thing I'd change, I would attempt to add scales for texture. And the feet, I wish I could've drawn them better. But overall, I like the pose and style I used.

Masterpiece Interpretation

     My masterpiece interpretation is based off of Starry Night by Van Gogh. I changed and added many objects, as I took an Alice in Wonderland take on it. The once crescent moon is in a pocket watch missing all its numbers. The numbers are spread all through out the painting. The wind like swirls carry the Queen of Hearts soldiers. A top the cypress trees lies the mad hatters hat; the white rabbit is hidden in the bushes by the village on his way to his rabbit hole.

     I used both principles and elements. Balance is demonstrated in this painting, with movement on both sides. I attempted to display texture with multiple brush strokes using the same color in different shades. Color is my most used element. I used a wide variety of colors and shades, using multiple or a different color in every brush stroke.

     Van Gogh's art style was Impressionism; I attempted to keep this style while my mind interpreted his painting. I themed Van Gogh's, Starry Night, to fit the Disney movie Alice in Wonderland. I took the white rabbits pocket watch and made it the moon but, I took out the numbers. The watch numbers are hidden in the stars in the sky, this is to show that the white rabbit has no sense of time because he's always late. The white swirls in the sky in Van Gogh's painting, I think of as wind. I placed the Queen of hearts card soldiers in the swirling wind to show that they are watching over all of the Queens palace, or village, in Van Gogh's painting. The white rabbit is on his way to his hole that leads back to wonderland, Alice is nowhere to be seen.

     Personally, I love how I interpreted this piece. Alice in Wonderland is one of my favorite Disney movies and I feel it fit Van Gogh's mysteriousness well. I took my time on this painting and would not change anything about it.
